One Leg Drinker

Buffalo Bayou’s More Cowbell

I put my pants on just like the rest of you – one leg at a time.  But I usually fall down trying to get the other leg in, and after the third try I usually just say, “Screw it, it’s No-Pants-Beer-Time.”

That’s what growlers are for!

So, what’s in my growler today? I was in an IPA mood last night at Lakewood Growler, so I got a flight of four IPA’s. Of the four stellar beers I drank, I ended up filling a growler of More Cowbell, one of the Heritage Series beers from the good folks down at Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co. in Houston.

Buffalo BayouMore Cowbell is a solid IPA fit for THE Bruce Dickinson himself.  It sports a floral, grassy nose that puts you out in the backyard early in the Texas summer, right after you mow the lawn. More Cowbell is definitely a feel-good beer, perhaps because it’s the kind of beer your mouth wants when you’re working outside in the heat and think, “A cold beer would be pretty great right about now.” Or perhaps it’s a feel-good beer because of the 9% ABV. But probably the first thing I said.

This is not a crazy IPA. It is hoppy in a pleasant way that makes you smack your lips. Not in the I-just-got-kneed-in-the-mouth-by the-hop-goblin kind of way. Even with the high alcohol and 118 IBU’s, you could still drink quite a few of these in a row.

I know I’m about to.
